Baby = Publicity/Joy

I have no problem with celebrities adopting babies from Africa, I mean, theyre helping out alot with the poverty and sh!t thats going on in this country, but I cant help but question their motives... I mean, they barely have enough time to look after their own kids, with their hectic schedules and whatnot? Angelina Jolie has always been weird, so I wouldnt even put it past her to do something like that, but now, all of sudden all of them are following? So Madge knows shes getting a bit old, and her "has been" status is approaching, and like it wasnt enough for her to make those freakishly gross music videos with those leotards or whatever the hell she calls them (I dont know how men think thats hot) I admit the woman looks good for her age, but still...I'm sure most of this is for publicity. I cant think of any other reason. Even the adopted babies are just handed down to the nannies anyway, so what the fook? I appreciate that they are helping the kids, giving them better lives and futures, but I cant help but wonder if its for the right reasons.... Maybe its just me...

they should just give money to the orphanages, so that they can help ALL the kids...and not just one...

@ Tam - yeah tam, but the thing with that is, almost all celebs do that already, donate money to orphanages and welfares...its like, so like, "already been done". like, you know? lol, thats why I say they do it for publicity. I mean what gets more attention than a famous white woman adopting a little black south african? pffft!!!

@ lee - Well, i cant agree that i dont care what they do, coz i love gossip..hehe, one day you'll be famous.....one day...... then ill probably be writing about you adopting donkeys, or whatever crazy shit you'll get up to!

Hi Sam! No, it's not just you who questions their motives. I did a satirical post on this a while back, which you might find amusing (or not). Hugs. :)

All that money they waste, why don't they club together a fund and run a school or something to help lots of kids...

oh well, can't blame 'em really, celebs are bad, governments are worse. Multi-national companys are the devil incarnate...

I'm typing this without seeing the keyboard. I have to..I went blind seeing the faux picture of Madonna.

The celebrity schtick is wearing thin. Especially since there are so many celebrities who donate without saying a word or getting publicity for it.

Harry Chapin, a singer songwriter from the seventies and eighties, who died in a car crash in 1983 (I think I was the last person to interview him) gave about eighty percent of all the money he earned in concert to food hunger charities. Harry and Ken Kagen were about to launch into what would later be known as Live Aid, the mantle of which would later be picked up by Bob Geldorff.

Ja nee donner - die foto is AAKLIG!!!!! I dont like the fact that people adobt kids that are not of their own race. I think you take away the kids culture... And that is NOT on. Think about it - and I am not a racest!!! Its like putting a white baby in a zulu village, that kid will be so confused on what and who he is. NO I DONT LIKE IT AT ALL!!!!!

Hey SaM - interesting post and clearly quite thought provoking. It is a tough one, as these people are always in the public eye, yes one would automatically question their motives, and all we can do is speculate. If a wealthy person from SA who is not famous did the same thing their motives would not be under scrutiny because they are not ptentially trying to reswcue a career, get more publicity, etc etc. Tamaryn makes a good point. Bono and his merry gang have been doing that for years. We can never really tell what is potting in their heads because when they would try tell us, we would say that they are lying and trying to protect themselves. It is such a difficult one, but in the end, my thoughts are smimilar to yours because I think that way too.

Thanks, Sam-Girl. A simple drawing of droopy boobie Madonna would have been better. If you read Stewart's reply, I suggest picking up some Harry Chapin CDs. Fantastic stuff. And he was donating money when there weren't tabloids out there on the newsstands. The Enquirer was all about Elvis and UFOs. My favorite Chapin song? "I am the morning DJ, on WOLD-D-D-D-D, playing all the hits for you, wherever you may be." I had to get Harry's voice in my head, Sam. To set a cosmic balance of hangy boobie Madonna out of my head.

I totally agree it's all for publicity! I mean, I'd like to think they have good intentions, but I just can't bring myself to believe it...

It's publiciity for them - and a distraction for the public. After all we prefer to watch these pretend philanthropists than Real Life, don't we?
